So, seriously, who do you believe can garner the support of everyone you mention, including the President Biden supporters, and take the offensive against trump and win this November election?
I have no firm convictions in this realm, and my opinions are issued with low confidence given the unprecedented nature of the situation and the many variables. Insofar as one of Biden's key liabilities is his age, any replacement-level Dem who is on the younger side of things (50s) will automatically shed that baggage and allow for a reset. I have argued that KH is a decent option because of the practicality of it (name ID; she's doing what a VP is supposed to do; democratic legitimacy) and reducing unknowns (having familiarity with how a politician will fare against oppo research on the national level; avoiding a potentially divisive open convention) and other reasons: https://www.msnbc.com/opinion/msnbc-opinion/kamala-harris-president-biden-2024-rcna161098
I'm open to other ideas. Any Dem will have an uphill climb ahead of them, but all of them will at least have some chance at breaking a deeply concerning pattern Biden has shown no ability to break. As I suggest in the piece, this isn't just about candidate quality but also articulating ideas — and I can say I strongly believe that anybody who shies away from economic populism is going to lose.
For a Biden supporter, it's not about articulation. It's about making America DECENT again. I surely hope Harris wins because, should Trump win, all this betrayal and back-stabbing of Biden is going to come down on Democrats and rightfully so.
And if Trump wins, then Dems have opened the door for that win.
