"The left-wing Squad rejects the math and says that it still wants the $2000 checks that Biden promised earlier."

OK, but, the record here was clear, and the debate on the matter was always $2000 vs $600, not $600 alone vs $2600 total. It was always in lieu and not addition. I love the squad but it's straight-up dishonest to say otherwise. The issue was confused a bit by that one ad with $2k checks that Warnock put out, and the fact that Dems were still talking about $2,000 after the $600 had passed, but that really doesn't change what the debate was over, and if it was meant to be a shift, at no point was that signaled clearly.

All that said, of course I support $2,000 checks rather than $1,400 ones. But, OK. Make the case. It's not hard. I promise, one does not need to lie or accuse centrist Dems of breaking promises to do it, and I really wish they hadn't. If the practical calculation was that it would make $2000 more likely, then it was a poor one given how thin the margins here are, the cost to credibility, whether people are willing to work with you otherwise, etc. But really, it's about the principle here. This is frankly the kind of mendacity I expect from the center (and the right, but their lies are generally bigger and worse). You hate to see it.
